Alaska Marine Highway System

A reduced fare pass is available for travel on Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) vessels for U.S. veterans having a service-connected veteran's disability. The pass entitles the disabled veteran and an attendant (if required by physician) to travel at half the regular passenger fare. Reduced fare does not include vehicle or stateroom. The pass is valid for travel between Alaskan ports on all AMHS vessels, year-round.

State Camping Pass for Disabled Veterans

The legislature granted Disabled Veterans (DAV) the right to receive one Alaska State Park Camping Pass free of charge. The DAV Camping Pass, which is valid in all developed Alaska State Park campgrounds and is good for two years. There is no DAV pass for boat launch or day use, nor can the DAV camping pass be used to purchase a boat launch or day use pass as the second pass at the discount rate.

To receive a free DAV camping pass, an eligible disabled veteran must present, in person, proof of a service-connected disability at either the Anchorage or Fairbanks Department of Natural Resources Public Information Centers. Please call to make sure you have all the necessary paperwork for eligibility.

Alaska Railroad Discount

The Alaska Railroad offers a 20% discount to active duty, military retirees and dependents. ID showing proof of status must be shown at boarding.

Federal Recreation Pass

The America the Beautiful Parks Pass Series is your ticket to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites across the nation. Included in this series are wo passes that benefit current service members and disabled Veterans. A free annual pass is available to active-duty members, Reserves and National Guard Members, and their dependents. A free access pass is also available to U.S. citizen or permanent residents with permanent disabilities. Each pass covers entrance fees at national parks and national wildlife refuges, as well as standard amenity fees at national forests and grasslands and at lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation. You can obtain a pass in person, with proper documentation, from a participating federal recreating site or office.
