A DD-214 is a Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.  It documents the complete, verified record of a service member’s time in the military, character of service, in addition to other important service details.

An NGB-22 is a discharge document for service in the National Guard.  It is like the DD-214 and shows important information about a Veterans service in the military.
